报告人简介：

Stefan Stevanovic works as a research associate at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences. In 2023, he was awarded the 'European Young Urban Forester of the Year' for his research work. He has long been engaged in research on urban ecosystems and sustainable urban development, especially in the field of sponge cities, urban forestry and urban trees. His research team is one of the leading institutions in Europe specializing in engineered substrates and plant design for sponge city applications. They have implemented related projects in several Swiss cities including Zurich, Lucerne, and Bern, and have accumulated deep insights into tree species and substrate selection in urban contexts.

报告简介：

 Europe is increasingly challenged by climate change and rapid urbanization. Projections indicate more frequent and intense heavy rainfall along with longer drought periods, which place considerable stress on our urban environments. In Switzerland, one promising response is the implementation of sponge city strategies.

ZHAW focuses on nature‐based and urban ecosystem solutions. Stefan Stevanovic have been involved in projects in Bern, Lucerne, and Zurich, where he has been testing innovative tree substrates, expanding rooting space, and integrating stormwater management systems. In these case studies, he has carried out measurements of soil moisture, runoff, tree growth (vitality), temperature regulation, and substrate performance. These data helped him evaluate how well different designs work under Swiss urban conditions, and how trees contribute to both climate resilience and livability.
