【Academic Exchange】Symposium on Rosa Luxemburg Studies and Publication & Launch Ceremony of the Chinese Edition of The Complete Works of Rosa Luxemburg Held at Wuhan University

(Reporter: Kang Xiaojing) On November 15, 2025, the Symposium on Rosa Luxemburg Studies and Publication, together with the Launch Ceremony for the Chinese Edition of The Complete Works of Rosa Luxemburg, was held at Wuhan University. More than 20 scholars from the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation in Germany, Kozminski University in Poland, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing Normal University, Central China Normal University, the Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, the People’s Publishing House, and Wuhan University participated. The event was jointly organized by the School of Philosophy of Wuhan University, the Institute of Marxist Philosophy, the Institute of Western Marxist Philosophy, the Collaborative Innovation Center of Marxist Theory and Chinese Practice in Hubei Province, and the Beijing Office of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation (Germany).

During the symposium, Michael Brie (Board Member of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation), Professor Gavin Rae (Kozminski University), Researcher Li Pengcheng (Institute of Philosophy, CASS), Senior Editor Zhu Xia (Central Compilation & Translation Bureau), Professor He Ping (Wuhan University), Professor Zhou Fan (Beijing Normal University), Professor Liu Rui (Central China Normal University), and Professor Jia Shupin (Shanghai Normal University) delivered presentations on topics including Rosa Luxemburg’s philosophy of life, Luxemburg and Western Marxism, translation and research of her writings, and her philosophy of praxis.

At the publication launch ceremony, participating leaders and guests jointly unveiled the Chinese edition of The Complete Works of Rosa Luxemburg. The publication is a phased achievement of the National Social Science Fund Major Project “Compilation, Editing and Research of Rosa Luxemburg’s Works,” led by Professor He Ping of the School of Philosophy at Wuhan University, with strong support from the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation in Germany. After eleven years of meticulous work, Professor He and her academic team have released Volumes I and II of the Chinese edition, which not only present rich archival materials tracing Luxemburg’s intellectual journey, but also significantly deepen Rosa Luxemburg studies in China.
