Tianyuan Mathematics Center in Central China - Enshi Base(hereinafter referred to as the "Enshi Base") was officially inaugurated at Hubei Minzu University in July 2025. As an integral component of the Tianyuan Mathematical Center in Central China, the establishment of the Enshi Base has received high-level attention and strong support from 27 partner universities across the central region.
The Enshi Base operates under the guidance of the Tianyuan Mathematical Center in Central China and Wuhan University, with Hubei Minzu University responsible for its specific construction and daily operations.
Currently, the base's office area is temporarily located within the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Hubei Minzu University. To better meet the needs of research collaboration and academic exchange, a new dedicated office space for the base is planned to be completed and operational by the end of 2026, with a total planned area exceeding 1,200 square meters. The new facilities will include graduate student seminar rooms, faculty offices, meeting rooms, and a multimedia lecture hall, comprehensively optimizing the research environment and enhancing capabilities for academic exchange and collaborative support.
The Enshi Base is committed to providing high-quality services for mathematics colleagues nationwide to hold academic conferences, specialized training sessions, lectures, and workshops in Enshi. Through initiatives such as establishing distinguished professor workshops and organizing doctoral summer schools, the base aims to strengthen academic interaction among universities in the central region and with other parts of the country. Its operation will further promote the overall advancement of mathematical research in western Hubei, support the development of the mathematics discipline at Hubei Minzu University, and radiate its influence to promote progress in mathematics education and application capabilities in Enshi and surrounding areas, injecting new vitality into regional talent cultivation and discipline development.
In July 2025, the base successfully hosted the "First Tianyuan Mathematical Center in Central China Summer School for University Mathematics Teachers," laying a solid foundation for the future regular organization of high-quality academic activities. Moving forward, the Enshi Base will continue to strengthen its platform functions, expand exchanges and cooperation, and strive to become an influential mathematics academic exchange platform within the central region, contributing to the advancement of mathematics in central China.
